Our Vision
Our co-worker would always talk to us about her grandpa, who was diagnosed with alzheimers 12 years ago. The lack of mobility put a lot of stress of her grandma when he was getting ready in the morning and completing tasks during his day. Also during the night he would wander off from home for hours at a time by foot or car and no know knew where he was. He didn’t own any personal technology so there was no way to contact or find him. Eventually these problems became too difficult to keep up with and he was moved into a nursing home. When he moved into the nursing home he lost his feeling of independence and dignity and began to show signs of embarrassment in the clothing he was able to wear. He was resistant to give up his normal sense of style but he had to because he was unable to dress himself in his normal clothes.
Who Are We?
We are a group of five high school students with a passion for business and helping others. Through our business incubator class, we were encouraged to think of real world problems that have yet to be addressed. While brainstorming we were inspired to create our company, Dignified Designs.
What Makes us Different?
We provide easy to use modern clothing for low mobility and dementia patients that includes an optional GPS tracker. Our goal is to provide peace of mind for the families and caretakers of the patients who want their loved ones to feel safe and good about themselves. We also want the patient to feel confident in their stylish clothing and reduce frustration for the patients while they're getting dressed.
Who do we help?
Our goal is to make the lives of low mobility senior citizens and dementia patients a little easier. Believe it or not, 40% of senior citizens are considered low mobility and 1 in 6 senior citizens are affected with a dementia related disability. They all face these problems daily. As the disabilities progress, more responsibility begins to fall on the families of these patients. Their quality of life regarding independence, safety, and dignity falls into question.
